Interior stylist: from initial idea to a fully furnished home
Choosing an interior stylist means choosing a home where every detail is considered, not only in aesthetics but also in layout, comfort and functionality. At GV Concepts, the focus goes beyond designing a beautiful interior; it’s about guiding the entire process, from first ideas to a fully realised and styled home. Many clients come to us because they feel overwhelmed by the number of choices. There are endless possibilities in colours, materials, furniture and layouts, and often not enough time to coordinate everything. As an interior stylist, I bring clarity to this process, translating ideas into a clear plan and ensuring it is executed to a high standard.
The approach of an interior stylist
Every project begins with a personal introduction. During this meeting, we clearly define what you are looking for: from style and appearance to how the space is truly used. It is not just about aesthetics, but about how everything comes together in a design that works and makes an impact. I then visit the property to experience the space as a whole and understand its possibilities. The layout, natural light, architecture and location all play a role in shaping the design. I also often ask clients to create a mood board, for example via Pinterest, to gain a clearer sense of their stylistic preferences and desired atmosphere. Based on this input, we develop a complete design. This is presented in the GV Concepts design studio, where we review the layout, colours, materials and furniture together. This creates a clear and cohesive vision of the future interior.
Who am I? An interior stylist with a Rotterdam background
My name is Gigi Valster, interior stylist and founder of GV Concepts. From my design studio, I work on a wide range of interior projects, where personal contact and a clear, structured approach are key. I believe that a successful design begins with understanding who the residents are and how they live in their home.
My way of working is strongly influenced by my Italian roots. Collaboration, craftsmanship and attention to detail play a central role, which is also reflected in the Italian suppliers and brands we frequently work with at GV Concepts. We operate with a dedicated, close-knit team, largely made up of family. This ensures short lines of communication, strong involvement and a trusted collaboration throughout the entire process.
Clients often experience this as a major advantage: not a large agency with constantly changing contacts, but a compact team that manages the project from start to finish.
From my design studio, I work on projects in Rotterdam and the surrounding areas, as well as internationally. In recent years, we have completed projects in locations such as Marbella, Knokke and London. This combination of local involvement and international experience allows me to create designs that suit both the property and its environment.

Who an interior stylist is for
My work is aimed at those who value quality, atmosphere and a well-considered interior. For those who want a home that truly reflects them, without having to manage all decisions and coordination themselves. Whether it concerns a renovation, a new-build property or a complete redesign, as an interior stylist I ensure that every element comes together as one cohesive whole. Are you curious about what an interior stylist can do for your home? I would be delighted to invite you for an initial, no-obligation consultation.

From design to realisation
What sets my work as an interior stylist apart is that the process does not end with the design. Following approval, we also oversee the execution of the project. This includes coordinating all suppliers, guiding the renovation and organising the logistics surrounding furniture during delivery.
All elements included in the design are brought together in one clear quotation. All invoicing is handled through our studio, ensuring a single point of contact and a well-structured process throughout. Once quotations are approved and orders have been placed, the realisation of the new interior begins.
During this phase, I coordinate all involved parties and keep the client informed of progress. Many furniture pieces and bespoke elements have production times of several months, making careful planning essential for a smooth process.
Once everything is ready, my team and I take care of the installation and final styling of the interior. Accessories, lighting and textiles are carefully placed to bring the entire space to life. Clients often walk into a fully furnished home upon completion, finished to the smallest detail.

A timeless and personal style
My designs are characterised by a calm and timeless aesthetic. I favour light colour palettes, natural materials and organic shapes that together create a warm and harmonious atmosphere. Antique or characterful elements are often incorporated to ensure the interior retains a sense of personality.
It is important that the interior does not become trend-driven. A home should feel comfortable and relevant for many years. Balance is key: between modern and classic, and between aesthetics and functionality.
Every project is bespoke. No interior is designed according to a fixed formula; each design is shaped by both the residents and the property itself.
