Italian design: timeless class and refinement in your interior
Italian design represents the highest level of style, luxury, and craftsmanship. It is a fusion of innovation, elegance, and that unmistakable sexiness you won’t find anywhere else. Italians know exactly how to use shape, materials, and atmosphere to create interiors that feel both refined and warm. At GV Concepts, we embrace this rich tradition and incorporate Italian design classics into our projects, so your home is not only beautiful but also full of life.
What makes Italian design so unique?
Italian design stands out for its refinement, elegance, and charm. Whereas Scandinavian design is understated, airy, and practical, Italian design exudes luxury, class, and a certain sensuality. A Volvo and a Ferrari both get you from A to B, but while the Volvo focuses on functionality and comfort, the Ferrari is all about experience, emotion, and allure. You see the same difference in design. Italian furniture and accessories combine elegance with character and attention to detail. They feel natural in an interior, instantly create atmosphere, and add that subtle, luxurious accent that makes Italian design so irresistible.
Who am I? Gigi Valster, with Italian roots and a passion for design
My name is Gigi Valster, interior architect and founder of GV Concepts. With my Italian heritage, design runs in my blood. I translate this love for Italian elegance and craftsmanship into interiors that are timeless and stylish, without the feeling of a showroom. My style is calm and modern, yet warm and inviting.
A place where you truly feel at home.
Together with my core team, mostly family, I work closely with short communication lines and personal involvement in every project. This gives our clients confidence and peace of mind, as we guide them through the entire process: from initial design to delivery and styling.

For who is Italian design suitable for?
Italian design is for anyone who values quality, style, and comfort. Thanks to the wide range of fabrics and finishes, it fits effortlessly in a family home with children, a classic townhouse, or a modern penthouse. It is a style that works everywhere, provided it is carefully mixed and styled.
Maarten & Saar
"Gigi transformed an empty house into a warm, stylish home with perfect cohesion."
Margaretha
"Gigi perfectly combines style and organisation. Everything was coordinated, agreements were kept, and the final result exceeded our expectations."
How do I incorporate Italian influences in my designs?
In my projects, I always try to include a classic Italian design element. This could be an iconic lamp, like the Flos Taccia from the 1960s, or a timeless armchair such as the Utrecht Chair by Cassina, designed in 1935 by Gerrit Rietveld. These eye-catchers add a powerful accent without dominating the interior.
I am also inspired by the Italian lifestyle: large kitchens where many people can gather, a cosy bar area, spacious seating around the dining table. It’s all about togetherness, comfort, and warmth. Exactly the feeling I want to bring into my designs.

The finest Italian brands and materials
At GV Concepts, I enjoy working with renowned Italian brands such as B&B Italia, Maxalto, Minotti, Flos, Cassina, Henge, Venicem, Penta, Flexteam, and Flexform. These brands combine craftsmanship with innovative design, and I prefer to work with brands whose products and people resonate with me and align well with how we approach projects.
Materials sourced from Italy form the heart of Italian design: marble, warm wood, cashmere, and glass. My preference is for warm bronze tones and natural stone, which I always tailor to the specific project and the atmosphere the client desires.
